The schooner headed south on the Oswego River to the Winter Harbor Marina on the Oneida River today for haulout thanks to her dedicated crew who enjoyed the cold weather and beautiful Fall colors.
On Saturday we will load the trailer with the jackstands, blocks, ladders etc. for haulout on Monday morning. Winterizing the engine and applying the shrink wrap cover will follow later.

Our crew moved the schooner to an overnight dock above Lock 6 in Oswego as planned on Thursday. Several of the crew used the early snowfall on the way to build a snowman! The rest of the journey to Winter Harbor Marina on the Oneida River at Brewerton will be completed on Friday.

The schooner will move from her berth at the West Pier, stop for fuel at the Oswego Marina, travel through locks 8,7 and 6 in Oswego then tie up above lock 6 across from the Pontiac Nursing Home on Rt 481 on Thursday morning. She will leave at 8 AM Friday for the trip to Winter Harbor Marina on the Oneida River. Rough estimate of travel time is 6 hours from lock 6 in Oswego. On Saturday, we will load the trailer with the jackstands, blocks, pads, cover, frame etc. to be ready for haulout sometime next week.
Service (haulout, bottom pressure wash, outside storage, bottom paint application, and launch) is donated by the Winter Harbor Marina.

Saturday was a busy day - 2 masts, bowsprit/jib boom, 2 inflatable rafts, and the main hatch cover are out with the ginpole but we were back at our West Pier dock at 11 AM having coffee, donuts, and pizza! For those who remember when we were learning how to do this, it was an all day job.
Tuesday, we will remove and store the standing rigging, prepare the spars for sanding/varnish/paint and test the newly completed bilge/fire pump system.

Masts will come out on Saturday. The forecast for next week is not favorable - we need dry weather with little wind (we have that this week). On Thursday, we will rig temporary stays and remove the rigging from the bowsprit/jib boom. The bilge/fire fighting system is nearly complete, so is the deck house hatch/door. Jackstands, keel blocks and winter cover are ready and the new boarding ramp has been stored at the OMF. Also on Thursday, welders will complete the stainless tubing across the stern davits.

Still a pretty picture even with the sails and booms off - see attached. This week more rigging will come off, pipe to the fire station will be in place, the stainless connector on the davits will be welded and wiring of the new panel will continue. Join us when you can.
